Central Arizona College turns its San Tan Valley campus loose Saturday, October 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. at 3736 E. Bella Vista Road. Admission and parking are free, and the night has trick-or-treating, a costume contest, a haunted hallway, mad science labs, music, games and a vendor and food market.

San Tan Valley has been a town for a year, and it is marking the anniversary with a free pancake breakfast open to everyone on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 7 to 10 a.m. at Mountain View Church, 4815 W. Hunt Highway. KTAR reports a 3.84-acre retail center anchored by a Terrible's convenience store and gas station is planned for the southeast corner of Bella Vista Road and Gantzel Road, with space for more restaurants and retailers. Developer Walt Brown Jr. called the location one with excellent visibility and access in a rapidly expanding trade area. Diversified Partners has not announced a groundbreaking or opening date.
