The Carefree Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce will celebrate Twisted Stitches with a ribbon cutting on November 10, 2026, from 5 to 6 p.m. at 6554 E. Cave Creek Road. The chamber invites visitors to meet the owners, tour the space and enjoy refreshments. This is the announced celebration date; the listing does not establish the business's first day of regular service.

The free family festival includes hands-on activities, native wildlife encounters and interactive exhibits about the Sonoran Desert. The organizer directs visitors to park at the Spur Cross lot and recommends allowing at least 90 minutes to explore. Bring water and sun protection; the trail is not accessible to strollers or wheelchairs. The Land Trust lists drop-in attendance without registration and asks groups of 10 or more to contact it ahead of time. Partner Holland Center separately requests an RSVP for its Desert Awareness Committee program.

The town’s October 15 announcement describes 24 works of local art, including eight in the Sonoran Arts League’s Art in Public Places program. Visitors can meet local artists and enjoy refreshments. The center also offers local history displays, trail maps and area information.

The indoor program meets in the Nature Center classroom and explores snakes, tarantulas, scorpions, vultures and other desert animals through a slideshow and specimens. Children can use activity sheets and coloring pages. Bring a bag lunch or snack; no registration is required. Check the park for applicable entrance fees.

Alberto’s Ristoranté at 7171 E. Cave Creek Road lists a three-course dinner for $55, excluding beverages, tax and gratuity. Participating days, meal service and prices vary by restaurant, so check the selected restaurant’s menu and hours before planning a visit.

The Cave Creek Museum has named Local Jonny's Tavern & Cafe, 6033 E. Cave Creek Road, a Local Landmark, and presents the bronze plaque Oct. 8 at 10 a.m., AZ Big Media reports. The building has housed a variety store, a hardware shop, a barber and Cave Creek Coffee Company since the 1950s. Co-owners Lauren Van Winkle and Jon Oughterson took over in 2014 and grew a small coffee counter into a full tavern with live music.

The Cave Creek Museum hosts a free family-friendly event from 1 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 17, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Carefree. The theme is "Where Melodies Spark Memories and Objects Tell Stories," with live music, interactive storytelling and hands-on activities, including a branding demo from the museum's in-house artisan.

Admission and parking are free. Optional wine tasting is separately ticketed and limited to guests 21 and older. The festival supports Robinson Ranch, which provides therapeutic and recreational horsemanship. Check the organizer’s current event page for wine tickets and program updates.

Applications close at 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2. The money goes to local groups doing work in and for the town, so if you run or volunteer with one, the window is about six weeks.

Kiki Rae’s won best non-dessert food, Le Sans Souci won best dessert, and Raven View won best booth. Town Council members judged the expanded competition. This updates the earlier announcement of the competition’s three categories; the October 14-15 festival has ended.

The Town of Carefree spotlighted Carefree Collective, the vintage and antique shop Joycelee has run in Los Portales Mall for nearly five years. It did well enough that she took a second space last year and doubled the inventory: kitchenware and glassware, vintage Pyrex, clothing, greeting cards, books and games, holiday decor, Jeep ducks. She sources much of it from the Midwest and through online auctions and learns the history behind each piece, so pick anything up and she will tell you where it came from. The town calls her its unofficial Carefree concierge, happy to hand out local recommendations along with the treasure. Note for planning a visit: with Los Portales Mall slated for redevelopment, the shop will be moving to a new location that has not been set yet. It is at 99 Easy Street, suites 201 to 205.
