Portillo's lists its Queen Creek restaurant at the southeast corner of Ellsworth and E. Walnut: 7,800 square feet, roughly 180 seats inside and 50 more on the patio, built to what the company calls a "Southwest Garage theme." The site says it opens this year and no date has been posted yet. Construction updates and pre-opening events are open for sign-ups.

Queen Creek Olive Mill's 13th Annual Garlic Festival runs two weekends, Sept. 19 and 20 and Sept. 26 and 27, at 25062 S. Meridian Rd. Admission and parking are both free. The lineup includes four varieties of organically grown estate garlic, a garlic menu from del Piero Kitchen, live cooking demos from owner Perry Rea, Olive Oil 101 and Garlic 101 classes, estate tours, live music, wine and beer tastings and family activities. The event listing names it "Best Festival" in "PHOENIX Magazine's 2026 Arizona Travel Awards."

The Queen Creek Chamber of Commerce is running its Restaurant Week from Aug. 17 through Aug. 23, with 25 venues taking part. Participating spots are offering “specials, limited-time menu items, prix fixe meals, discounts, and other exclusive offers.” The Chamber says the week is a chance to “try a new restaurant, revisit a favorite local spot, and support the businesses that play an important role in Queen Creek's economy.”

Queen Creek is one of nine new Arizona locations Angie's announced, at Ironwood and Pima roads. The fast-food chain serves salads, warm bowls, burritos, burgers, fried chicken, seafood and breakfast. The company said it hopes to open the first three within six weeks and the remaining locations by the end of the year, without saying which three.

Rosati's Pizza is preparing to open its first Queen Creek location at 25166 S. Ellsworth Road, Suite B101, between Johnson Ranch and Power Ranch. Owners Lee and Heather Kroll already operate several Arizona locations. Work is in the final stages, with kitchen hoods set for inspection and a second oven on the way. No opening date has been announced.

The Beat the Heat Summer Riding Series is on both Saturday, August 8 and Sunday, August 9 from 6 a.m. to noon at Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Centre, 20464 E. Riggs Road. Riders use the Chapman Automotive Group Arena, and the early start is the entire point in an Arizona August. The park's summer calendar also carries evening barrel racing and the Queen Creek Feastival on August 15.

Bamboo Sushi, a sustainable sushi chain out of Portland, Oregon, is opening its first Arizona restaurant at The Switchyard. The nearly 3,200 sq ft spot will serve signature rolls, shareable plates and happy hour specials, joining Shake Shack and Snooze at the Ellsworth Loop and Ocotillo development.
