American Airlines will be the primary carrier for Phoenix Sky Harbor's new West Terminal, the airport's first new terminal since Terminal 4 opened in 1990, AZ Big Media reports. Construction could begin in late 2029 with an opening in late 2033, adding room for more wide-body aircraft and new premium spaces. Gate count and design are still being determined, and no local tax dollars will be used.
