Barnes & Noble is opening a 15,000-square-foot store at Queen Creek Marketplace with a grand opening Nov. 11, AZ Big Media reports. It's one of five new tenants that center owner Vestar announced for the Ellsworth Loop Road center. Aubergine Kitchen, JINYA Ramen Bar and LaserAway are due in early 2027, and a 5,800-square-foot LongHorn Steakhouse follows in spring 2027.

Schnepf Farms, 24810 S. Rittenhouse Road, is building a brand new area for 2026, with new rides including Barnyard Stampede, The Peach Pit and Barnstormers. Hayrides run to a 10-acre maze with a Celebrating America theme, and chili dinners can now be preordered for a set pickup time.

The Queen Creek Chamber's Horseshoe Harvest Hangout takes over Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Centre, 20464 E. Riggs Road, Oct. 30 and 31. Festival admission is free and parking is $20 a day. Expect a roughstock rodeo by 406 Rodeo nightly at 7, live music Friday night, a big Trunk or Treat, a petting zoo, food trucks and costume contests for people, pets and livestock. Queen Creek's biggest outdoor market returns for its ninth season. The Visit Queen Creek calendar lists a special Queen Creek Family Market event on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Ellsworth Loop at Aldecoa Drive, with a second October date on the 24th. Admission and parking are free. The market has run since 2017 and says it now brings more than 100 local vendors two days a month: bakers, boutiques, home decor, apparel, crafts and a rotating food truck lineup, plus face painting for the kids. It is pet friendly. From November the season moves to Schnepf Farms, starting with a Thanksgiving turkey and pie raffle on Nov. 14.

The Queen Creek Chamber of Commerce hosts its 8th annual Creek Bash Rodeo on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18 and 19, at Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Centre, 20464 E. Riggs Road. Queen Creek Olive Mill's 13th Annual Garlic Festival covers two weekends: Sept. 19 and 20, then Sept. 26 and 27, at 25062 S. Meridian Road. Admission and parking are free. The lineup includes cooking demonstrations by owner Perry Rea, Olive Oil 101 classes, estate tours, live music, wine and beer tastings, face painting and a garlic-inspired menu from del Piero Kitchen, with garlic-stuffed olives and garlic olive oil growlers on offer. The festival was recently named Best Festival in PHOENIX Magazine's 2026 Arizona Travel Awards.

ProteinHouse has signed a lease at Magma Plaza, on the southeast corner of Ocotillo Road and Heritage Loop Road. It would be the brand's sixth Arizona restaurant, joining Phoenix, Scottsdale, Gilbert and Tempe. The menu covers breakfast, pancakes, bowls, salads, burgers, wraps, acai bowls, protein shakes, juices, desserts and a kids' selection. The exact address and opening timeline have not been released.

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the location for the Queen Creek Arizona Temple. The 82,000-square-foot temple is planned for northeastern Queen Creek, south of Ranch Road and north of Queen Creek Road, on a 15.5-acre site within a 7-mile radius of Mesa Gateway Airport and the ASU Polytechnic campus. A meetinghouse and an ancillary building will share the grounds. A coordinating site map was published Aug. 31. The site has been announced; no groundbreaking date has been given.

The Switchyard, a $120 million mixed-use development on 10 acres at Ellsworth and Ocotillo roads, has named four more tenants: Bamboo Sushi at 3,198 square feet, ROOM and PORCH at 1,761 square feet, Zara Nail Bar at 3,519 square feet and an Edward Jones office. All four are expected to open by year's end, as are the three restaurants announced earlier: Snooze, Shake Shack and Postino. The project is being developed by Creation Equity and opens in phases.

The Queen Creek Tribune reports The Perch, a 62,000-square-foot project on Muniz Street, will include a brewery plus retail and restaurant space and is expected to open by the end of 2026. It is one piece of roughly $200 million in private investment reshaping the downtown core, alongside the Switchyard, a 20,000-square-foot office project at Ellsworth Loop and Ocotillo, and an 8,500-square-foot plaza in the former Magma Engineering building.

The Switchyard, a $120 million mixed-use district going up on 10 acres of town-owned land at the northeast corner of Ellsworth and Ocotillo roads, has landed Postino. It is the wine cafe's first Queen Creek location and, per the report, the Postino furthest south and east in metro Phoenix. The developer is Creation, founded by David Sellers and Bob Agahi. Opening is set for this fall with no exact date yet.
