The 2026 Cactus League season drew 1,753,849 visitors across 237 games and added $495.8 million to Arizona's GDP, the highest figures since measurement began more than 20 years ago, according to an ASU Seidman Research Institute study reported by AZ Big Media. It was the fifth straight season of attendance growth across the Valley's 10 ballparks.

Peoria's Pumpkin Patch at 7717 W. Thunderbird Road runs Oct. 13 to 31, according to Raising Arizona Kids' 2026 pumpkin patch guide. The Peoria Church of the Nazarene fills the patch with pumpkins through the second half of October, along with fall events.

Jefferson House at 83rd Avenue and Jefferson Street in Downtown Peoria's Arts District is targeting a November 2026 opening. Plans include three chef-run kitchens, six retail and eatery spots, a courtyard bar, a live music stage, a 16-foot splash pad and seating for 300-plus under a covered canopy.

The Christmas Cafe is set for 24980 N. 83rd Ave., near 83rd Avenue and Happy Valley Road, and is expected to welcome its first customers in fall 2026. Coffee, fresh food and curated retail come with Christmas-inspired decor all year, and the menu previews a Peppermint Bark Latte.

Ballet Under the Stars returns to Peoria on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Centennial Plaza behind City Hall, 9875 N. 85th Ave. Pre-show activities and food trucks start at 6 p.m. and Ballet Arizona's professional dancers take the stage at 7 p.m. Admission and parking are free. Peoria's Halloween Monster Bash has a new home in 2026: City Hall Campus and Centennial Plaza, 8401 W. Monroe St., on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 5 to 9 p.m. The city says the move buys more room for themed zones, easier parking and a walkable backdrop. Expect glowing trick-or-treat trails, costumed characters, food trucks and costume contests judged by age group, newborn through 11, plus family and group, with prizes for the top three in each. A sensory trailer and quiet area will be set up with noise-canceling headphones, weighted blankets, soft seating and sensory kits. Maps and schedules are still to come.
The city recognized TheaterWorks on Sept. 15 with a proclamation signed by Mayor Jason Beck marking four decades of live theatre and arts education in Peoria and the West Valley, the Peoria Independent reports. Founded in 1986, the company has grown into a cornerstone of the city's arts scene, welcoming hundreds of thousands of patrons and giving a creative home to thousands of performers, students and volunteers.

Peoria's free monthly music-and-art festival is back in the historic downtown on the second Saturday of each month from October 10 through April 10, 4 to 8 p.m., with local art, live music, artisan vendors and hands-on activities. This season's dates: October 10, November 14, December 12 paired with the Peoria Holiday Festival, January 9, February 13, March 13 and April 10. Vendor, musician and artist applications are open through the event's Linktree.

Peoria Sports Complex is opening the outfield for an overnight campout on Saturday, Oct. 17, the city announced. Campers pitch a tent on the same field professional players use, with outdoor games, dinner, breakfast and a showing of Angels in the Outfield on the stadium videoboard. The evening also includes access to the Desert West Night Market, 5 to 9 p.m., with food trucks and vendors on the main concourse. The campout runs 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. and costs $25 a person, which covers meals, activities and a commemorative patch. Tents must be spike-free and no bigger than 12 by 12 feet, and space is capped at the first 200 people.

The city's Somos Peoria celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month runs Sept. 15 through Oct. 17 with free admission at every event. First up: the Taco Fest and Guitarras Latinas concert, Sunday, Sept. 20, 3 to 6 p.m. at Paloma Park, 29799 N. Lake Pleasant Parkway, where local vendors compete for Peoria's Best Taco and you vote in the People's Choice. Food and drinks are for sale and there is a beer and margarita garden. Still to come: Soulitify at Sweetwater Park Sept. 27, a Latin comedy showcase Sept. 30, Powerdrive Band at Osuna Park Oct. 4, a Somos edition of Second Saturdays Oct. 10 and the Bombs Without Boundaries car show finale Oct. 17.

Amkor Technology announced a second phase of its semiconductor packaging and test campus at Peoria's Innovation Core, adding nearly 650,000 square feet and lifting the total investment to $12 billion, the Peoria Independent reported Sept. 9. The company says the expansion is driven by strong customer commitments and will bring the site to roughly 1 million square feet of cleanroom space. Phase 1 was a $7 billion project, and Amkor has a $1.5 billion multiyear agreement with Nvidia.

The Desert West Night Market, put on by PS I Love AZ, runs every Saturday from May through October 2026 at the Peoria Sports Complex, 16101 N. 83rd Ave., from 6 to 9 p.m., with local food trucks, artisan vendors and after-dark shopping. Entry is free on nights without a Desert Dreams FC match, parking is free, leashed dogs are welcome, and the complex is cashless with no ATMs on site.

everbowl, the superfood bowl chain with more than 100 locations nationwide, holds its grand opening Friday, Sept. 4 at 8402 W. Thunderbird Rd, Suite B102. The menu is acai and superfood bowls, smoothies and toasts. The shop is owned and operated by Melissa and Darrin Grove, who ran a friends-and-family night on Sept. 3 where the first 300 guests got a free bowl while supplies lasted.

Jefferson House is under construction at 8310 W. Jefferson Street, at 83rd Avenue and Jefferson in downtown Peoria's Arts District. The plan is three chef-run kitchens at 640 square feet each, six retail and eatery spots from 160 to 440 square feet, a courtyard bar, a live music stage and a 16-foot splash pad, with more than 300 seats under a black-steel canopy with climate controls. The project's site lists opening Fall 2026 and says it is targeting November 2026. Tenant announcements have not been made yet.

Peoria's Arts and Culture department runs a free concert series every Wednesday evening through August and September at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts, billed as August Acoustics and then September Mix. The city newsroom is promoting a free R&B and soul concert on Sept. 10. The series spans country, classic rock, Renaissance music and jazz-inspired storytelling, and is built to introduce audiences to emerging and established musicians from across the state.

KTAR reports Barclay Group is building Vistancia Commerce Park, 239,700 square feet across four buildings ranging from 9,400 to 54,000 square feet, at the southeast corner of Westward Skies Drive and Desert Cactus Lane in Peoria's Five North at Vistancia near Loop 303. The October 2025 announcement put construction start at mid-2026 and completion at mid-2027.

KTAR reports Flower Child is opening at The Trailhead, 8226 W. Happy Valley Road in Peoria, and that the location is expected to open later this year. The same report lists Goodyear and Surprise locations in the same expansion. An exact opening date has not been announced.

The Christmas Cafe is under construction at 24980 N. 83rd Ave., near 83rd Avenue and Happy Valley Road, with a fall 2026 opening planned. Owners Victoria Andrej and Marie Pantelic are building a holiday-themed coffee, food and gift shop around the line "Joy to the world, 365 days a year." The preview menu includes a Peppermint Bark Latte topped with homemade chocolate whipped cream, red and green sprinkles and a peppermint bark snowman.

Potbelly opened at 24645 N. Lake Pleasant Parkway, Suite 104 on Tuesday, Aug. 4. It is the brand's second shop in Peoria and third in the West Valley, owned and operated by local franchisee Adam Warda of the Warda Group. Regular hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. The grand opening ran Friday, Aug. 7 with giveaways and a spin-the-wheel game.

WalletHub ranked Peoria No. 23 among the happiest cities in America for 2026, one of six Arizona cities in the top 30 alongside Scottsdale, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe and Mesa. The study weighed more than 180 major U.S. cities on “29 key indicators of happiness,” grouped into emotional and physical well-being, income and employment, and community and environment.
