A free Frank Lloyd Wright exhibit opens at Chandler Museum Oct. 27

Ocatilla: Frank Lloyd Wright's Lost Desert Masterpiece opens Tuesday, Oct. 27, at the Chandler Museum, 300 S. Chandler Village Drive, and runs through February 2027. Admission is free. In 1929 Wright built a desert camp he named Ocatilla while chasing inspiration for a resort Dr. A.J. Chandler had spent a decade envisioning; the exhibit brings together architectural drawings, historic photographs, archival film and a full-scale mockup of an Ocatilla cabin you can step into. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m., closed Mondays.

Free Ballet Under the Stars lights up Tumbleweed Park tonight

Ballet Arizona dances free at Tumbleweed Park, 2250 S. McQueen Road, on Friday, Oct. 2. Food trucks, activities and community tables open at 5 p.m. and the performance starts at 7 p.m., just east of the playground. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. No ticket is required, though the city asks for an RSVP.

Chandler Center for the Arts reopens Oct. 17 after a $3M refresh

Chandler Center for the Arts reopens Oct. 17 with its annual gala after a $3 million summer renovation, AZFamily reports. Upgrades include all-new theater seating, updated interior finishes, stage and rigging improvements and new flooring. A free open house on Saturday, Oct. 24, 3 to 6 p.m., lets anyone see the changes up close.

La Popular Cocina Mexicana joins Chandler Fashion Center's 2027 lineup

La Popular Cocina Mexicana, known for Mexico City-inspired dishes like ribeye tacos, ahi tuna tostadas and chicken mole poblano, plans to open at Chandler Fashion Center in fall 2027, KTAR reports. Din Tai Fung and Wagyu House are also opening at the mall in 2027.

Two for Joy brings yogurt bowls to Chandler Fashion Center

Two for Joy Cafe is preparing to open at Chandler Fashion Center, 3111 W. Chandler Blvd., in the last week of October, per What Now Phoenix, pending inspections and final approvals. Expect artisan yogurt bowls with fruit, granola, honey and pistachios, rose-pistachio and mango soft serve, chai and matcha.

Southern Steer Butcher cut the ribbon on Queen Creek Road in Chandler

Southern Steer Butcher celebrated its Chandler ribbon cutting with the Chandler Chamber on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 1095 W. Queen Creek Road, Suite 6. The neighborhood butcher shop sells beef, chicken, pork and seafood, with advice on cuts, seasoning and pairings.

Free teen-band concerts return to Chandler's courtyard Friday

Concerts in the Courtyard opens its 2026 season Friday, Sept. 25, 6 to 8 p.m., at the Chandler Community Center, 125 E. Commonwealth Ave. Local teen bands play a mix of originals and covers, and it is free. Two more nights follow on Oct. 16 and Nov. 20.

Rocktoberfest lands at its new Uptown Chandler home Oct. 2 to 4

Chandler's Rocktoberfest runs Friday through Sunday, Oct. 2 to 4, at SanTan Gardens, the event's new Uptown Chandler location. Visit Chandler bills it as three days of craft beer and live music with the competitions doing the heavy lifting: a stein-holding contest, a wiener toss, a brat-eating competition, cornhole, beer pong and wiener dog races. It is the first of a busy Chandler fall that also includes the AZ48 half marathon on Oct. 25.

The Dragonfly & Butterfly Bash is free at Veterans Oasis Park Oct. 3

Chandler Nature Center's annual Dragonfly & Butterfly Bash runs 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 3 at Veterans Oasis Park, 4050 E. Chandler Heights Road. Expect hands-on crafts and games for all ages, guided nature walks of about 20 minutes on easy terrain, and giveaways. A Nature of Things session with Borderlands Restoration lets you pre-order native plants and pick them up on site. Admission is free.

Chandler floats a pumpkin patch in a heated pool on Oct. 24

Pumpkin Dunk turns Mesquite Groves Aquatic Center, 5901 S. Hillcrest Drive, into a floating pumpkin patch from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24. The water is heated, there is an on-deck family costume contest, and the cost is $5. Registration is required, per the city's event page.

A 42-foot trailer museum parks at the Chandler Museum Oct. 7 to 11

The Office of Collecting & Design, a traveling museum built inside a 42-foot trailer by artist Jessica Oreck, stops at the Chandler Museum October 7 to 11, the city announced September 18. It is a tactile, screen-free collection of leftover fragments, organized for delight; visitors can do a flatlay photo experience or a scavenger hunt. Related events: a film screening and conversation with Oreck Friday, October 9, 6 to 8 p.m., and flatlay workshops Saturday, October 10, at 10:30 a.m. and noon, both registered on Eventbrite. The museum at 300 S. Chandler Village Drive is free; trailer tour tickets are sold by the Office of Collecting & Design.

Kei Collective is moving its 100-artist shop to Chandler Fashion Center

Kei Collective is relocating from Phoenix to Chandler Fashion Center at 3111 W. Chandler Blvd., opening Oct. 15 on Level 2 near Dillard's with a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. that day, What Now Phoenix reports. The shop carries work from more than 100 artists plus a roster of independent brands, and the owners say the extra room in Chandler lets them add more vendors. Co-owner Stella told What Now the current Phoenix unit is split across two combined spaces, while the new store is one room they get to design themselves. The 44th Street location stays open until Dec. 15, so both run for a two-month overlap. Kei Collective opened in 2019 selling alternative clothing, footwear, accessories, art, jewelry, stationery and home goods; its three owners met on the local convention circuit.

Chandler Municipal Airport opens its gates for free tours Friday

The city is offering free guided tours of Chandler Municipal Airport, 2380 S. Stinson Way, on Friday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. Each one-hour tour is capped at 14 guests and requires advance online registration. The tour includes a presentation from the airport manager, an airfield overview and a stop at the heliport. More dates follow on Oct. 16, Nov. 20 and Dec. 17, with registration opening three weeks before each. Bonus: for National Good Neighbor Day, City Hall's courtyard at 175 S. Arizona Ave. hands out free ice cream 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28.

The Arizona Moon Festival lights up Saigon Center Sept. 26, free

The Arizona Moon Festival 2026 runs Saturday, Sept. 26 from 5 to 11 p.m. at Saigon Center Plaza, 2051 N. Arizona Ave., with free admission and free parking, per the organizer's Eventbrite listing. Phoenix Food Festivals promises lion dance, martial arts demonstrations, an international cultural parade, Asian street food, a health fair, and bounce houses, train rides, face painting, a petting zoo and free lanterns for kids while supplies last.

A Mexican kitchen opened inside Chandler's Padeland club

Lomos Cocina de Mexico opened inside Padeland, the padel and pickleball club at 1 W. Chandler Blvd., per Copper Courier's Sept. 10 roundup of August openings. The menu it lists includes salmon al limon, chile relleno, pork belly guacamole, shrimp tostadas and ribeye steak tacos. Cien Agaves also opened a Chandler location at 900 N. 54th St. the same month.

Black Rock Coffee opens on McQueen Sept. 15 with $3 mediums

Black Rock Coffee Bar opens its newest Chandler shop Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 3103 S. McQueen Road. The company says opening day brings "$3 medium drinks all day," and the celebration continues Sept. 16 with its signature grand-opening sticker giveaway. CEO Mark Davis said the chain has "seen tremendous momentum across the valley" and is building on it with the Chandler location. Hours were not listed in the announcement, so check the shop before you go.

Chandler's free Halloween Spooktacular is Friday, Oct. 30

Chandler's Halloween Spooktacular is Friday, Oct. 30, 2026 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Dr. A.J. Chandler Park Stage Plaza, 178 E. Commonwealth Ave. Admission is free. It includes a Trunk-or-Treat with more than 300 lbs of candy, catwalk costume parades at 6:15 and 7:30 p.m., carnival games and a Little Monsters Zone for children 5 and under. Parking in the city garages is free.

Atomic Comics is back, and TMNT's co-creator opens the weekend

Atomic Comics reopened Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 2974 N. Alma School Road, Suite 5. Founder Mike Malve started the chain in the mid-1980s and grew it to Mesa, Metrocenter, Chandler and Paradise Valley before it closed in 2011. The grand opening celebration is Saturday, Sept. 5 from 1 to 5 p.m. and includes a signing with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman.

The Mexicano is coming to Chandler Fashion Center this fall

The Mexicano is expected to open at the Shoppes at Chandler Fashion Center this fall. It arrives as the mall approaches its 25th anniversary and reworks its dining and retail lineup, which also includes Seafood City, a first-to-market Filipino grocery store with in-house restaurants, and J.Crew Factory. Din Tai Fung is scheduled for 2027.

Chandler Center for the Arts reopens in October, fully redone

All three theaters at Chandler Center for the Arts have been closed since June 15 for a renovation running through Oct. 15. The work includes replacement of all theatrical seating, new carpet and epoxy flooring, enhanced floor and chair lighting, seat renumbering for easier wayfinding, and maintenance to fire sprinkler systems, theatrical rigging and electrical infrastructure. The city says the venue will hold a grand reopening in conjunction with the 2026 Center Stage Gala in October. Programming continued at other community locations during the closure.

A 125,258 sq ft industrial project just finished in Chandler

Signals AZ reports Opus announced the completion of Envision 56, a Class A speculative industrial development near North 56th Street and West Chandler Boulevard. It is two buildings, 37,289 and 87,969 square feet, on 8.8 acres in west Chandler's industrial submarket. Opus was developer, design-builder and architect of record. No tenants have been announced yet.

A Filipino grocery hall is coming to Chandler Fashion Square

What Now Phoenix reports Seafood City will open its first Arizona location at Chandler Fashion Square, 3111 W. Chandler Blvd. The property describes it as a Filipino grocery store with in-house restaurants serving Pan-Asian dishes, bakery treats and street food, plus live seafood tanks with a complimentary cook-to-order service. The opening is listed as sometime in 2026.
